the best cutter of uppers in the district brand

Tagliatore was established in 1940 by Vito Lerario.
With the passion for authentic craftsmanship he opened a shoemaker workshop in Martina Franca.
Vito became the best cutter of uppers in the district and he was known as “Tagliatore” because he cut and stitched leather uppers. This nickname was inherited by his son Franco (known by the name Franchino the Tagliatore), who instead decided to dedicate himself to tailoring.

looking for inspiration

In 1984 he opens Confezioni Lerario, a reality which at the beginning works for third parties. He became so skilled in making suits, that in 1988 the costume designer Bob Ringwood, who was looking for inspiration for Tim Burton’s Batman, was struck by one of his jackets, so much to entrust him the suits of the film. A success that put Lerario under the media spotlights around the world.

creative intuition

In 1999, Pino Lerario started to produce with the
Brand Tagliatore, marking the beginning of a new direction for the family company. He inherited passion and savoir faire from his father, perfecting himself in design and pattern making at the Secoli Institute in Milan, until becoming one of the few stylists capable of creating an item of clothing from scratch, from the first sketch to the finished model.
Today, thanks to his creative intuition, combined to the most advanced technologies, Pino manages to develop new patterns and materials created ad hoc which make each Tagliatore item unique and timeless.
